Solstice Movement & Wellness

Solstice.

In the summer, it is the lightest day of the year. A time to rejoice in the light and grow.

In the winter, it is the darkest day of the year. A time to rest and rejuvenate.

This is how we see healing at Solstice. A balance between knowing when it is time to grow and when it is time to rest.

Healing is not always easy. At Solstice Movement & Wellness we are here to support you in your healing. To help you find the harmony in doing hard things and showing yourself grace.

About Me:

Morgan Forteith Hercamp, PT, DPT (she/her) is a spirit-filled physical therapist (and new mama) who specializes in pelvic floor and pediatrics. She has extensive continuing education in pelvic floor, pregnancy, postpartum, and pelvic pain. She has worked with many pediatric populations including, but not limited to, kiddos with: developmental delays, autism, orthopedic pain, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, constipation, and as an inpatient therapist.

Morgan’s priority as a physical therapist is to create a safe, trauma-informed space for her clients. She knows that pelvic floor concerns can be difficult and sometimes triggering to navigate which is why she focuses on empowering her clients to be their own healers. Her goal is to hold a judgement-free space for you and be your biggest cheerleader. Morgan emphasizes education and informed consent to accomplish these goals.

When it comes to children, Morgan believes that the child and parent are the expert in their bodies and that Morgan’s job is to act as a tool box to help you identify what treatment strategies would be best for your child. Just as she does with adults, Morgan prioritizes bodily autonomy and informed consent in her pediatric sessions.

Solstice Movement & Wellness values all humans as equal and welcome. Solstice is an LBGTQ+ affirming practice and honors all neurotypes. At this time, Morgan does not have the appropriate training to treat pelvic floor dysfunction for those with penile anatomy. However, she is happy to help provide recommendations to navigate a provider who can best support you.

  • Absolutely! An evaluation is a great way to learn about the pelvic floor and get customized education and a home program to serve you. One visit will not be able to fix or answer all of your concerns, but it is a great starting point.

Morgan loves working with clients to create a plan of care that works with your budget - even if it is just one evaluation.

Some clients even come to Morgan with one specific goal in mind, such as learning perineal massage.

No matter how many or how little visits, Morgan will always work to educate you on what can be accomplished and never pressure you into a plan of care you are uncomfortable with. She is here to serve you!

  • ABSOLUTELY NOT. Although internal examination and treatment can be a component of pelvic floor therapy, it does not have to be. Morgan is skilled in a variety of external evaluation and treatment measures. Morgan will always provide education on all evaluation and treatment measures prior to performance. Informed consent is foundational to Morgan’s treatment approach. You are always the leader of your own body and healing.

  • While Morgan is trained in dry needling, she is not currently offering dry needling at this time. She does plan to offer dry needling in the future, but does not have an anticipated date. Morgan is skilled in a variety of other manual techniques to help with muscle healing.

If dry needling is important to you, Morgan recommends seeing a different pelvic floor practitioner at this time.

  • Morgan wants you to be confident in your healthcare decisions. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to Morgan at connect@solsticemovementandwellness.com or come to the free pelvic floor education class.

Kind Words

  • "Morgan has been such a transformative part of my birth prep team!! For all those who told me the pelvic floor is something to think about AFTER birth, they are missing out on some incredible knowledge, understanding, and preparatory work that will undoubtedly help me mentally and physically through labor. Morgan spent such quality time with me at each appointment, learning about my history, explaining anatomy, working on external and internal areas of tension, and teaching me exercises for my particular situation (spoiler: they WEREN’T kegels which would have actually done the opposite of what my body needed!). As a person, she is tremendously positive, encouraging and perceptive. I felt that she is truly invested in my pregnancy journey, and I will 100% go see her in postpartum as well. I highly recommend her. Even if you visit just once! You will learn a ton. :)"

  • "Morgan is phenomenal!! I have no idea where I would be physically without her. I used her services for my first pregnancy to prepare for birth and to relieve back/nerve pain. She also was a life saver in helping me recover from a traumatic birth with my first child and I am so excited to prepare for a VBAC with her help and also plan to use her services for my postpartum recovery. I cant imagine a better pelvic floor therapist/person than Morgan. She is kind, listens, and is great with my son. We love her!"

  • "I saw Morgan with Solstice Movement & Wellness for an evaluation and Pelvic Floor Therapy and it has made a HUGE improvement on my postpartum recovery. She hosts a Pelvic Floor group class at Swiss Ave Birth Center that is extremely informative and educational, and that was a great introduction before going be for a full evaluation with her at 6 weeks postpartum. She does a 90-minute eval, which is great to give ample time to thoroughly review where I was at and discuss what I'm trying to accomplish. She did a full (including internal) evaluation and was very conscientious, checking with me if I was comfortable throughout the process. I greatly appreciated her respectful professionalism while being personable. At the end, I received a tailored exercise plan. I also appreciate her approach to treatment -- her goal is so that you don't have to see her time & time again if you're progressing to recovery. If you're looking for prenatal or postpartum Pelvic Floor Therapy, I strongly encourage you to check out the PVT Group Class she offers to meet her for yourself!"

Please note Morgan now does 75 minute evaluations as she is no longer pregnant/early postpartum and thus the extra time is not needed for a full evaluation.

Morgan provides a mindful and thorough evaluation experience in 75 minutes.
